OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for CNC Machinist with prior experience working with Swiss Style CNC turning platforms. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you’ll utilize your expertise to set up, operate, and troubleshoot machining operations for a wide variety of parts on our Swiss CNC turning equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret part specific work instructions for the set-up and operation of Swiss Style Turning Lathes

  • Install pusher collets, guide bushings and sub spindle collets per Work Instructions to hold / guide precision ground material and finish part geometry. Configure Bar Feeder / Loader for specified material size and part parameters

  • Build cutting tool / holder assemblies defined by work instructions at initial set up and specific tool change intervals. Using tool setter to record X and Z positional measurements to be loaded into assigned offsets on machine control. Install tool holder assemblies into the appropriate machine turret or tool block position

  • Initiate CNC programs on machine controllers on first piece at a reduced rate, using control functions such as Single Block, Dry Run, Feed / Rapid override, and positional data to determine all aspects of a set-up have been performed correctly

  • Identify specific geometric / dimensional characteristics on finish or in process parts, using a combination of measuring instruments and dimensional reports from Quality Control. Adjust tool offsets, work coordinate offsets and or macro variables per work instructions to bring dimensional characteristics into a specified tolerance per inspection criteria

  • Continuously monitor all aspects of CNC machining operations to identify the need for adjustments, cutting tool replacement and or potential program adjustments. Report anomalies or improvement opportunities to production supervision

  • Thoroughly break down CNC machining operations in a clean / organized manner, identifying opportunities for maintenance, replacement, or improvement. Inspect and return all tools and instruments to their appropriate locations.

  • Other duties include identification / verification of material lots, participation in training exercises, participation in continuous improvement initiatives, performing time cycle studies, performing secondary operations such as deburring and assembly, performing CNC machine preventative maintenance and or repair, validate CNC machine accuracy and identifying and documenting non-conforming products or materials

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiar with “Citizen Cincom” CNC controllers

  • Capable of using general Mathematics to add, subtract, multiply & divide numeric values out to the fourth decimal place, with emphasis on “Positive” & “Negative” numerical values

  • General proficiency in reading “G-Code”, with emphasis on “Tool Call / Change”, Rapid Traverse and “Controlled Feed Rate” and “Work Offsets” and program synchronization formats across multiple programs / channels

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows based computers

  • General understanding & interpretation of part drawings / Blueprints

  • Proficient in using all forms of physical inspection equipment including but not limited to Vernier Calipers, all forms of Micrometers, Dial Bore gauges, Digital Height gauges, Gauge Block stacks, Gauge Pins, Optical comparators, and Thread Gauges

  • Working knowledge of modern cutting tool geometries, insertable tooling systems for turning and boring on a Swiss CNC platform

  • Any experience working with Citizen machine tools is a plus

EDUCATION

  • 2-year technical certification or equivalent experience preferred.
