LeachGarner Process Metallurgist in Attleboro, Massachusetts
LeachGarner is currently seeking a Process Metallurgist to develop and implement efficient processes and procedures to utilize people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service. SPECIFIC/ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities Assist in financial planning and cost analysis Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine manufacturing worker functions, work content, and responsibilities Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization. Regulate and alter workflow content according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times to expedite production operations: time studies and line balancing. Engage shop floor and support functions to assist in resolving manufacturing problems using lean and six sigma methodologies. Observe and analyze current methods and processes and make recommendations in areas of improvement to bring about work simplification and standardization, quality improvement, and cost reduction Other engineering related duties as assigned by the manager. EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related technical degree required. Six Sigma and Lean knowledge a plus. Ability to travel up to 50 percent is required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One to- three years of experience in solving problems related to manufacturing/assembly processes, component processing, and/or manufacturing equipment. Recent college graduates with manufacturing intern/co-op experience or some manufacturing experience will be considered. Six Sigma and Lean knowledge a plus.
