The Client Lifecycle Management initiative is a Corporate-wide initiative to improve the global on and off-boarding of a customer with specific focus on enhancing the customer experience while creating streamlined end to end processes, improved controls, increased transparency and optimizing currently disparate processes.

The project manager will be responsible for liaising with multiple business and support teams across State Street. This position develops and manages complex projects that span departments and functions across State Street; ensures effectiveness and efficiency of project operations, including indirect staff management responsibilities. Provides leadership and direction for the management of their projects; oversees staff working on other projects of varying degrees of complexity. Plan and execute program ensuring project teams meet project objectives, dates, budget, and meet success criteria of sponsors.


  • Manage the overall deliverables of a large, scale enterprise-wide project with multiple teams

  • Interact closely with all workstream leads to hold them accountable for timely delivery of their workstreams

  • Engage with the leads to challenge and problem solve departures from plan. Where departures from plan are needed, assess impact across workstreams and refine plan

  • Initiate and complete enterprise-wide project standards (e.g. ISRMP)

  • Understand organizational context and be able to identify and engage relevant stakeholders to remove barriers

  • Participate/lead program level meetings with program stakeholders

  • Manage budget and elevate risks to budget as necessary.

  • Investigate and resolve actual vs budget out of tolerance amounts

  • Identify, document, and escalate resource shortfall issues

  • Coordinate status reporting for all workstreams

  • Coordinate overall project communications, risks, and issues resolution

  • Provide guidance and support on project scope, risks and issues management

  • Promote a collaborative cross-business environment that fosters change utilizing the Change Management Framework

  • Create, manage, and communicate change control process

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) framework, including the identification and management of associated tasks

  • Responsible for maintaining effective internal controls and implementing corrective actions to address any process and control deficiencies

  • Act in accordance with Risk Excellence and role model Ethical behavior and decision making as part of our Way Ahead foundation

  • Perform other duties as required

  • 8+ years job related/industry experience in financial services or consulting is required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required

  • Excellent management and leadership skills

  • Very strong interpersonal, influencing, collaboration, and project management skills (technology and/or business projects)

  • Good knowledge of proven business analysis methodology is preferred

  • Very strong relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Excel, and Word required

  • Strong analytical skills required

  • Good communication and writing skills required

  • Financial Industry expertise specifically Fund Accounting and Back office operations are a plus
