Citizens Bank Quantitative Operational Risk Modeler in Boston, Massachusetts


We are looking for experienced Quantitative Operational Risk modeling professional that will participate in the design, development, testing and a range of projects related to operational risk measurement, loss quantification, stress testing and capital modeling across the bank.Professionals with experience collaborating with risk and line professionals beyond the modeling environment in order to jointly solve for client and banking needs will find the environment at Citizens particularly satisfying.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Analyze operational losses to look at trends to support loss quantification, economic capital and stress test projections

  • Participate in the development, execution, management and implementation of complex analytical modleing projects

  • Work with business line partners in embedding and socializing these models and support them with on-going requests.

  • Support validation, audit and regulatory efforts and requests

  • Maintain, review, and adhere to organization’s operational risk policy

  • Support implementation of operational risk solutions

  • Prepare ad-hoc risk quantification projects at the request of management

  • Participate in peer review sessions and maintain awareness of new advances in operational risk modeling techniques to ensure the application of best practices to operational risk models.


Required Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in financial industry performing and overseeing data analytics and predictive modeling initiatives using Matlab, R, SAS, SPSS, or an equivalent analytics package and relational databases.

  • Background and knowledge of banking risks, operational risk management principles and regulatory requirements

  • Strong understanding of operational risk and scenario analysis

  • Prior experience in loss forecasting


  • Advanced degree in Statistical/Applied Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Finance Engineering, Actuarial Science or other technical discipline

  • Masters or PhD is preferred. Consideration may be given to a candidate with a degree in lieu of experience

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00
