The scope of the Senior Manager, Materials Management is to lead people, processes and systems across the end-to-end supply chain to ensure product availability to the patients we serve. The senior manager will lead the supply chain and logistics functions include material planning and procurement team, production and capacity planning team, and internal / external logistics teams. This role will prepare and initiate suggested resources (budget, personnel, components, finished goods inventories, etc.) for the completion of the production plan. The incumbent shall interface with global corporate materials department on areas of improvement or implementation of strategic sourcing. With regards to logistics, the incumbent will be responsible to oversee material storage and movements within onsite and off-site warehouses. As a plant leadership team member, the senior manager will lead, coach and drive a high performance culture of their team.

Lastly, the incumbent drives the continuous improvement of the planning and execution processes within frameworks (Oracle, Global Supply Planning, and S&OE), as well as contributing to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives.

This position will directly supervise Supervisor, Warehouse & Distribution and production coordinators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Lead, manage and develop the assigned team of supply planning professionals, responsible for the end-to-end supply plan, rough cut capacity analysis (18 month horizon) and site optimization for products and value streams.

  • Accountability for site capacity planning and scenario modeling. Coordination of demand inputs from global demand planning and commercial operations teams to installed production capacities.

  • Ownership of site project management office and continuous improvement activities to drive a high performing team culture.

  • Plans and coordinates forecast / master production schedules for manufacturing operations to meet customer service requirements as well as related performance reporting.

  • Champion use of analytics platforms and dashboards to drive continuous improvement and robust decision making.

  • Determines and implements required management techniques to optimize investment in inventories of finished goods, raw materials, and supplies.

  • Develops departmental budget for management review and approval.

  • Recommends equipment requirements for utilization in the execution of departmental functions.

  • Oversight of onsite and offsite warehouse inventories. Coordination of material movements between warehouses to ensure production supply.

  • Communicates with customers to establish distribution logistics and system processing for order entry and billing.

  • Reviews the maintenance of customer master files and order processing master files.

  • Authorizes purchase requisitions for the purchase of production supplies and raw materials.

  • Analyzes and monitors departmental functions and production completions to meet customer expectations and commitments.

  • Approves raw material purchase orders.

  • Writes and conducts performance appraisals and ensures regular feedback, coaching & counseling, and communication with staff.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Education and Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • BA in related business field, BS in Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • MBA Operations Management and / or APICS certification a plus.

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent with 8+ years of experience leading a team, Master degree with 5+ years of experience leading a team, Doctoral degree with 3+ years of experience leading a team

  • Minimum number of five (5) years supervisory experience in materials management, production control, purchasing and warehousing functions, production supervision and management for manufacturing operations.

  • Strong background in continuous improvement and project management.

  • Proficiency in automated systems of production planning, purchasing, warehousing, and logistics as well as operational execution.

  • Working knowledge of PC related tools, (Excel, Lotus, Word, Word Perfect, HPG, Microsoft Office Professional, etc.)

  • Supervisory experience, good communications skills, written and verbal.

  • Good interpersonal skills, dynamic self-starter and organizational ability
