Job Description

FINANCIAL ASSISTANT, Technology Licensing Office (TLO)-Financial Office, to handle all accounts payable functions for the office managing patents and licensing for MIT’s intellectual property. Primary duties involve processing all legal bills, resolving billing problems with law firms, and helping with monthly billing to licensees. Will reconcile and verify charges from law firms; resolve payment discrepancy issues regarding fixed-fee billing, process invoices for payments and obtain credits for overcharges/incorrect charges; review invoices with approved estimates and resolve any issues; work closely with the Intellectual Property (IP) staff to review and take action on legal bills; manage all activity of the disallowed function and collaborate with the IP staff to create, establish, and implement cost control through automated processes; be responsible for audit of annuity payments on CPi’s (Computer Packages Inc.) annuity payment system; reconcile and submit CPi monthly invoice for payment; act as a liaison between Finance and IP staff, providing all requested data to process invoices and identify costs; participate in special projects; and serve as primary point of contact for law firms.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: excellent judgment and communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; initiative; detail-orientation; high degree of accuracy; and strong computer skills and proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be able to respond to inquiries, identify and resolve problems, and initiate solutions; multitask; function at a high level of productivity while under pressure and dealing with regular interruptions and competing demands; work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team; and interact with a diverse group of people. SAP experience helpful. Willingness to learn and assume additional responsibilities a plus. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Job #14689-5
