DUTIES: Responsible for the design, implementation, testing, installation, maintenance and provision of technical expertise relative to storage arrays, storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), backup devices/technologies and UNIX and Disaster Recovery for the Cambridge and other sites. Support the Global IT function and coordinate point for identifying and meeting needs for storage, backup and Unix Administration and Disaster Recovery activities to achieve day-to-day storage and platform availability, capacity planning, performance monitoring and future growth. Design and review backup processes and assist Operations Team with the configuration and implementation of them. Review local storage designs for Global sites; perform strategic planning relative to the storage environment; daily monitor storage performance and backup activities and resolution of any identified issues; perform capacity planning and performance monitoring and tuning of the storage environment; work with other areas of IT Infrastructure and Global applications to identify storage requirements for new initiatives. Responsible for reconfiguration of the storage environment to meet business and application needs while simultaneously ensuring the most efficient utilization of storage resources and the configuration of the storage environment to support identified disaster recovery requirements. Participate in DR testing for key GCP locations; assist with periodic spot checks of recovery plans for individual application components; assist with recovery efforts in case of a disaster impacting the Cambridge Data Centers; input to the annual Capital and Expense Budgeting processes to ensure inclusion of storage requirements; participate in application and infrastructure technology project teams to ensure storage design and implementation in alignment with established standards and strategic direction. REQUIREMENTS: Master Degree in Information Technology or Information Systems and six (6) months of experience in the job; or six (6) months of professional experience as a Systems Administrator/Storage Specialist or closely related occupation within the specialty chemical/manufacturing plant industry, responsible for installing, configuring and monitoring enterprise level storage environments on a global basis, utilizing networking, Server, OS, storage replication, backup and other technology capabilities as related to Disaster Recovery requirements in order to properly configure the storage environment. Must have at least six (6) months of experience utilizing the following key technologies: HP 3Par Replication Suite, Data Optimization Suite, HP EVA Data Replication, Snapshot, System Insight Manager, Command View, HP/Brocade SAN Switches, HP-UX with Service Guard, HP Blade Server Family, Linux, VMware, Microsoft Windows, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft SharePoint, SQL Server and Exchange. 20% travel required.
