As a Regional Sales Manager(RSM), you will be responsible for overseeing multiple Sales Reps driving toward monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue and bookings goals. In addition, you will have dotted line reports from Solution Engineering, Professional Services and other organizations designed to help your selling success and customer satisfaction.
Provide direction and guidance to your Sales Reps working with them in strategic planning that enables quota attainment across the regions.
Support the regions in achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and bookings goals.
Proactively work cross functionally with teams in Professional Services and Marketing to ensure alignment and resources.
Contribute to overall business strategy and planning, engage with leaders across the company.
Manage and build team – recruit, retain and develop a deep bench ensuring the continuity of the business.
Support the Sales Reps in their teams’ performance and career development/planning
About the Team
Akamai's Web Sales Division helps many of the world's most recognized Companies deliver web content and web based applications to their global audiences. From some of the world’s largest Commerce, Media, Hi-Tech, Finance, and Business Services Companies, Akamai provides world class services and support that enable our customer's business models to leverage the internet for mission critical business applications.
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
*10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or
8 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or
5 years of relevant experience and a PhD
Education: BA/BS Degree
15 years of Sales experience in system/solution sales within large Enterprise-type accounts
7+ years of experience selling in the High-tech industry
5+ years of experience managing multiple Sales teams with proven success leading teams to over-achieve quarterly and annual quotas
Experience in and around the performance monitoring, load/functional testing, systems management, and/or application performance management space
Formal sales training: Solution-Selling and/or Value Selling training
Operational excellence in managing a sales team
Excellent management and leadership skills, a motivating; inspirational leader capable of instilling excitement in others
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing successful sales processes
A successful RSM will have the following essential traits: Extreme sense of urgency, leadership, optimism, high self-esteem, professionalism and integrity
Deep knowledge of the Internet and a thorough understanding of its inner workings is beneficial
Ideal candidates will bring with them a range of industry-related contacts in the New England region
Managing in a demanding, fast-paced, and sometimes volatile environment, is also a plus
