JOB TITLE: Microbiologist Seasonal Part-Time


Qualified candidate will possess a minimum BS/BA degree in Microbiology or related field with coursework in microbiology or a minimum of 2 years previous laboratory experience, preferably in a food or beverage processing operation. Experience with media preparation, plating and aseptic technique is essential. Experience with GC and IC analysis is a plus. Accurate record keeping, attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary, as is the desire to work in a fast -paced manufacturing environment

The position requires work in the quality assurance microbiology laboratory


Microbiological sampling, preparation and analysis.

Sample shipment for outside analysis.

General water sampling and finished product audits.

Document quality tracking and other data using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word.

Maintaining multiple areas and detail cleaning.

Autoclaving of all media waste, funnels and buffers

Collection and running of FDA samples.

Corporate Microbiology Databases.

Positive checks on ordered and prepared media.

Retrieval and testing of customer complaints.

Microbiology proficiency test.

Maintain safe work environment and support safety programs.

Assist with consumer complaint processing, reporting, and analysis for all aspects of the plant.

Assist with all plant Quality initiatives and projects as needed.

Perform microbiological testing on in-process, finished product and spring samples.



Safety conscious (Job requires handling chemicals and pressurized water).

Strong communication and organizational skills (written and verbal).

Working knowledge of Word and Excel.

Must be team oriented and very flexible.

Hygienic practices.

Strong background in quality systems.

Knowledge of microbiological testing, computer/database skills, or demonstrated ability to learn.

Understanding of line processes and testing procedures.
