Softworld’s client is hiring a User Researcher II for the User-Centered Design group. We are looking for someone at a junior level who has quantitative user research position. This is a quantitative role, and someone with a product engineering research background would NOT be a fit as this is not a design position.

Responsibilities include: Creating and executing usability and broader user research evaluations to inform designs. Participate in data processing, analysis and reporting. Support synthesis of user research data with other technical and business data. With senior guidance, develop insights from research findings and present to project teams and stakeholders. Collaborate with User Experience professionals to ensure superior ease of use of new products. Work with senior research to understand study objectives, to identify when user and design research should be conducted, and to determine appropriate research methods. Assessing designs for usability issues for internal prototypes, current products and competitive products within and in related or adjacent spaces. Work with more Sr researchers to deliver best in class reports and results. Participate in larger studies with more Sr researchers as leads, as assigned. Collaborate with UE designers and product marketing to plan, coordinate, and conduct user research and analysis to determine target users and goals for product design efforts and existing products. Contribute to investigate, evaluate and recommend new and merging usability techniques, technologies, and process improvements as requested. Willingness to take direction from senior level researchers.


Education: BA/BS degree in Human Factors, Applied Cognition, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Anthropology, or behavioral sciences and a minimum of 2 years related work experience.

Professional Experience: Minimum 1 year of usability or user research (consumer, consultancy or academic) Courses completed in both research design and methodology, as well as introduction to statistics Strong analytical and process-oriented problem-solving skills Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional team environment Introductory understanding of the product development process, including meeting the needs of business, software, hardware, and quality assurance Excellent moderating skills (with a willingness to further develop these skills) Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) Visual design skill set a plus A solid portfolio of past work
