Job Description

Bose is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Consumer Electronics Division and help to create experiences that link our products, mobile applications, and the cloud. You’ll have a chance to contribute to and shape products that help people get even more enjoyment out of life. This position is specific to the efforts for bring new experiences to Bose’s Home Theater and Soundbar products, and requires experience in developing web applications and Android applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop complex web applications for large screen displays.

  • Develop native Android applications and Android SDKs.

  • Integrate applications with connected products and with cloud services.

  • Scope, architect, and develop new UI products and solutions.

  • Architect and support existing products and solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.

  • •Experience working as part of a team, ideally using Agile methodologies.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate clearly with technical teams and stakeholders.

  • Highly collaborative and able to work as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Able to create interfaces that support multiple device form factors.

  • Ability to analyze performance of applications and to act upon analysis to improve performance.

  • Able to use source control systems like Git or Subversion. Familiar with branching strategies.

  • Able to lead the technical development of a project or feature with minimal direction.

  • Proficient in Agile and SCRUM practices.

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical field.

Required Web Application Experience

  • Excellent JavaScript coding ability.

  • Intimate experience with CSS3 capabilities (especially complex animations).

  • Experience using web application frameworks — Angular, React, etc.

  • Experience using web services; understanding of HTTP, JSON, REST, and WebSockets.

Required Android Application Experience

  • Excellent Java coding ability.Experience with Kotlin is a plus.

  • Intimate experience with the Android API, e.g.: activities, fragments, services, content providers.

  • Experience using non-Google libraries, e.g. EventBus, Dagger 2, or other open source libraries.

  • Experience writing multi-threaded/asynchronous code; solid understanding of process and thread model in Android applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Code and process examples of past work.

  • Track record of moving a project from start to finish.

  • Experience working with testing frameworks.

  • Experience building web components for use on a variety of form factors.

  • Experience with iOS development using Swift or Objective-C.

  • Experience working with automated functional testing frameworks, e.g. Calabash, Appium.

  • Experience building and animating custom UI components.

  • Experience with C/C++ development and integrating with JNI.

  • Experience creating or supporting a SDK.

  • Experience with Bluetooth or BLE.
