Job Description

Position Summary:

Under the direction of a Manager of Health Information Management, the position of an MR Tech ? Scanning, File and Retrieval is responsible for the timely movement of patient medical records and documentation and accurately converting hardcopy medical records into digitized images for retention, release and continuity of care.

Processes all requests for medical records accurately, appropriately and expeditiously.

Scans all paperwork received in Health Information Management accurately, appropriately and expeditiously.

Neatly manages paper and record flow in an organized manner.

Understands and manages electronic information flow in an organized and efficient manner.

Assists physicians with record completion when called upon.

Understands and uses department computers and healthcare systems in an appropriate and efficient manner.

Strictly adheres to state and federal laws on confidentiality of protected health information.

Adheres to Department, Hospital and Human Resource Policies.

Performs other duties as required and requested.


Essential Functions:

? Medical terminology

? Knowledge of department documentation standards

? Knowledge of HIPAA, privacy and confidentiality of PHI


? High school graduate or equivalent

? Previous office experience, health care setting preferred

? Computer skills; EPIC experience desirable Scheduled Hours Full-time, 40 hours per week, M-F 8:30am-5:00pm
