Position Purpose:

Facility: Providence Behavioral Health Hospital

Responsible for overseeing medical care of all inpatients on adult and child units and all Inpatient Substance Abuse patients and provides medical care for Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program patients. Aids in developing policies related to medical care and provides leadership in medical arts.

Job Description Details:

  • Ensures that a medical history and physical are recorded within 24 hours of admission.

  • Performs daily medical rounds, providing medical follow-up, examination, consultation & orders; documents all contacts on medical record. Performs rounds with appropriate staff.

  • Seeks consultation with consulting or active staff, when indicated. Consults with staff on unit regarding medical issues.

  • Provides physical exams and dosage advice for Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program patients.

  • Provides on-call coverage as needed.

  • Ensures completed medical record is filed in keeping with time schedule prescribed for discharge summaries.

  • Completes physician billing sheet with appropriate codes – medical notes available for all codes.

  • Follows prescribed rules and regulations of hospital as set forth in the Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • Maintains delineated clinical privileges through continuing education.
