General Summary:


Windows System Administrator will be responsible for patching all Management Zone Windows servers, working in coordinating with other Federal groups.

As a

Windows System Administrator , your role will be to work collaboratively with Virtustream operations and engineering organizations deploying best practice operational standards, generate documentation and provide escalation support.

The candidate we are seeking will have the abilities to work in a converged infrastructure environment that includes varying levels of skills in multiple areas defined below:

  • Compute – Cisco UCS blade & rack-mount servers, UCS Director

  • Storage – EMC Storage Arrays (VNX, VNXe, XIO), Scale I/O

  • Network – Cisco LAN (Nexus Product Lines) & SAN (MDS Product Lines)

  • Backup & Disaster Recovery – EMC Recover Point, EMC Avamar/Data Domain, EMC VPlex

  • Virtualization – VMware vSphere, vRealize Suite, NSX, Pivotal Cloud Foundry

  • Operating Systems – RHEL, SuSe, Microsoft

  • VCE solutions – VBlock, VxBlock, VxRack, Vision

  • Scripting – PowerShell, Salt, batch files

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the development and refinement of operational best practices as it relates to Virtustream Enterprise Cloud platform management & support

  • Responsible for patching all Management Zone Windows servers, working in coordinating with other Federal groups

  • Assists in managing/maintaining GPO policies with the Compute team in keeping security posture

  • Works in coordination with Linux OS Admin in patching and ensuring all systems are remediated and up to date

  • Will manage with all necessary automation tools to support patching/remediation/STIG efforts for all environments

  • Understand, test, rollout and enforce required GPO policies for windows

  • Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues

  • Documentation of applied STIG, patching and remediation required in coordinate with Security Compliance group

  • Assist storage groups with patching/vulnerability remediation

  • Assist in the development of automation tools

  • Provides technical expertise in developing solutions to complex cloud operations problems, which require frequent use of ingenuity and creativity


  • Solid understanding of Data Center & Cloud platform design, implementation, and support

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience providing system engineering & systems architecture support for enterprise class systems

  • MCSE| RHEL | CCNA and other related certifications are a huge plus

  • Experience working with other technical experts and all levels of IT project customers, both technical and non-technical

  • Excellent Communications and Presentation skills, customer focused

  • Experience with multilevel security system architectures

  • In-depth Knowledge of technologies from VMware, Cisco and EMC

  • Broad knowledge of Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA), Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800

  • Demonstrated expertise with YUM, WSUS, Kaseya, Lumension

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent workplace experience

  • 24/7 support required


  • Position requires travel (10%)

  • IT-1 and Secret Clearance Recommended
