State of Massachusetts Victim Service Coordinator in Natick, Massachusetts

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Victim Service Coordinators provide information, support, and assistance to witnesses, victims of crime, and their family members through the parole process. The purpose of this work is ensure that victims and family members are being notified of their rights under the Massachusetts Victim Bill of Rights Chapter 258B and Parole Board Regulations. These rights include timely notification of Parole Hearings, Parole decisions, releases, revocations, pardons, and commutations. Responds to inquiries made by victims, victim service providers, criminal justice representatives and other seeking information and assistance with Parole events and Post-Conviction Notifications. Performs prompt follow-up and accurate documentation in case files. Cultivates a strong working relationship with Victim Service Coordinators within the Victim Services Unit to ensure a smooth transition of services when an offender is released into the community. Fosters a cooperative working relationship with the Institutional Staff and Field Staff to provide accurate information to victims and family members about the status of inmate and parolee. DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Ensures compliance with Massachusetts Victim Bill of Rights Chapter 258B and Parole Regulations. 2. Provides support services, crisis intervention, referrals, and safety planning for victims and certified petitioners. 3. Provides required notification of parole events to eligible crime victims and/or their family members. 4. Responds to inquiries from victims, victim service providers, criminal justice representatives and others seeking information and assistance with post-conviction victim services. 5. Performs prompt follow-up and accurate documentation in case files/ SPIRIT. 6. Accompany eligible victims and/or family members to Victim Access Hearings and Life Sentence Hearings. 7. Researches the identity and current contact information for non- CORI certified victims and survivors of homicide. 8. Fosters a cooperative working relationship with Field staff and Institutional staff. 9. Provide services and referrals to individuals with active restraining orders against parolees. 10. Collaborate with Field Parole Officers on domestic violence cases and follow VSU/Field Domestic Violence policy and procedures. 11. Conducts outreach and education to community service providers. 12. Participates in community meetings and High Risk DV/SAU collaborative meetings within assigned region. 13. Compiles and maintains statistical information. 14. Other duties as assigned and required to ensure quality and consistent victim services. First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.* II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.* III. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.* Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
