As a Senior Scientist/Associate Principal Scientist for the Clinical Translation Laboratory team in the Translational Science Department you will have the opportunity to impact AstraZeneca’s industry-leading portfolio of programs. This includes early clinical development of novel therapeutics through post-marketing opportunities that support approved targeted therapies. The Clinical Translation Laboratory has a focus on enhancing our portfolio of biomarker assays, utilizing multiplexing technologies that interrogate either RNA or proteins to enable quantification and evaluation of predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarkers in both preclinical and clinical studies.
Identify and deliver data on biomarkers for clinical studies based on the best available science and technologies
Generate disease linkage data to guide selection of tumor types and molecular segments and targeted patient populations
Measure target engagement reliably and quantifiably to inform clinical decisions for selecting therapeutically relevant doses and schedules
Interrogate clinical samples to understand mechanism of action and key oncology/immuno-oncology pathway interactions and feedback mechanisms to guide rational drug combinations
Evaluate and compare emerging technologies and analytical methods to identify those that generate the best data from precious clinical samples
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement work plans and timelines
A PhD in a relevant field (e.g. oncology, immuno-oncology, molecular or cell biology, immunology) with minimum 5+ years experience, preferably in industry
Expertise in molecular biology and cell-based techniques and assay development involving human blood and/or tissues.
Experience in cancer biology/immunology, including peer-reviewed publications.
Ability to lead from the bench in problem solving and the development of innovative solutions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
