POSITION SUMMARY The Behavior Intervention Specialist plays a critical role in fostering a positive school environment by implementing evidence-based behavioral interventions for students in grades 6-12. As a member of the school\'s student conduct and discipline team, the Behavior Intervention Specialist will collaborate with teachers, staff, students, and families to support students in managing their behavior and enhancing their academic and social-emotional development. The Behavior Intervention Specialist supports daily operations by developing and implementing individual student behavior plans and collaborating with faculty to implement best practices for classroom management strategies. This position is student facing and extensively will engage with students throughout the day to conduct behavioral assessments, direct student conduct education and training, engage in data collection and record keeping pertaining to conduct, discipline, attendance, and academic performance, plan and implement interventions, and assist in PBIS, restorative interventions, family engagement, and other school-wide initiatives. The Behavior Intervention Specialist is a school-year employee and reports to the Assistant Principal. Qualifications: - Bachelor\'s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (Master\'s degree preferred). - Experience working with students in a public secondary school setting, particularly those with behavioral challenges. - Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies and best practices. - Experience with PBIS systems within a public secondary school setting. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and families. - Completion of restraint training or restraint certification, or ability to complete such training or certification, to be update/maintained annually. - Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism - Calm, non-reactive demeanor - Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions regarding student interventions. - Commitment to promoting a positive school culture and supporting diverse learners. Work Environment: This position may involve working in various settings within the school, including classrooms, hallways, and offices. The Behavior Intervention Specialist will collaborate closely with teaching staff, administrators, and support personnel.
