Position Description
The Operations Specialist position is based out of Kinder Morgan’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) Agawam, Massachusetts Compressor Station located a 1615 Suffield Road, Agawam MA 01001. Primary Purpose
The Operations Specialist will primarily be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of natural gas compressor units, onsite power generation units, related ancillary equipment, and pipeline facilities. The successful candidate will be a strong team contributor with a proactive approach to balance planned and emergent work. Our Operations Specialists are responsible for operating, performing routine service and maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnosing turbine driven gas compressor sets, electric motors, reciprocating IC generators, pumps, valves, valve operators, relief valves, etc. Responsibilities also include performing operation and maintenance tasks on pipelines and pipeline related equipment. A sample of responsibilities includes:
Maintain and contribute to the safe operation of Company assets
Train and qualify to complete relevant DOT covered tasks
Start, stop and operate centrifugal engine driven natural gas compressors to maintain designated operating parameters and meet customer demands
Complete general upkeep, housekeeping and maintenance of all facilities and equipment, including remote locations
Identify facility and equipment malfunctions and take immediate corrective action when safe to repair
Follow developed job procedures, site specific work plans and O&M policy
Identify areas for procedural improvements
Ensure cost effective operation and efficient performance of all engines and associated equipment
Continuously review facility operations and adjust for optimization
Assist with pipeline maintenance and project related activity including pigging, ILI, recoating, atmospheric painting, etc.
Complete detailed reports and documentation for record keeping
Maintenance and repair facility equipment (e.g. fork lifts, pneumatic pumps, air compressors, coolers, generators, motor control centers, etc.)
Contribute to creating, planning, forecasting and managing the district’s budget
Communicate effectively and respectfully with work group, service providers and larger audiences
Assist with one-call locates and pipeline damage prevention activities
Must be able respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies immediately during and after regular business hours including overnight.
Will require minimal out of town travel (1 week per year).

Position Requirements
Job Qualifications:
Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with minimum supervision
Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives
Computer skills in common programs (MS Office) and willingness to learn various operating systems, and other company software
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
Aptitude to thrive in a team environment, take direction from supervisors or senior peers and contribute to a collaborative goal
Willing to accept mentoring and to mentor peers when working in teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Required to perform on-call / call out duties which will require carrying a cell phone
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company
Overtime and work after regular business hours is anticipated
Be available for shift work when applicable.

Experience Requirements:
Knowledge of gas compressor and transmission pipeline systems operations
Knowledge of operating costs and best practices associated with natural gas pipeline equipment
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams
Knowledge and experience in safe work practices when working around high pressure pipeline systems
Knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices, and regulatory and tariff requirements
Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to lift as much as 50lbs, bend/stoop, kneel and climb stairs/ladders
Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion included
