Description

OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant provides financial guidance, leadership and advisory to our manufacturing facility management team at the Haven facilities. This position will be accountable for driving effective and timely financial reporting, transactional accounting, supporting audits, and updating internal controls at the site. The Senior Accountant is expected to be a self-starter who has a proven record of accounting success in manufacturing. The Senior Accountant reports to the Site GM with a dotted line to the Division Controller.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the production of monthly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable

  • Prepare daily, weekly & monthly operational reports explaining material, labor and overhead efficiency and productivity costs in comparison to plan

  • Assist in understanding the current state of cost accounting and, working with the Division Controller, implement a plan to validate/update all costing, routings, and BOMs

  • Assists the Plant Manager for annual physical inventory and weekly cycle counts; work with the operational resources responsible for these processes to assure timely and accurate financial reporting implications

  • Prepare and maintain standard adjusting journal entries with related support as relates to operational cost accounting and monthly inventory book to perpetual

  • Produce weekly flash reporting of the site’s performance and commentary

  • Suggest new or updated internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation

  • Balance sheets reconciliations on a daily, weekly, monthly basis

  • Initiate banking wires and positive pay uploads

  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

  • Thorough understanding of cost accounting

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills coupled with the ability to develop automated processes to extract raw date from ERP and convert to high quality management information

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Experience delivering continuous improvement

  • Experience with profit & loss, cash flow, and balance sheet statements

  • 5+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing industry

  • Experience with a manufacturing ERP system preferred

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and five years related experience
