Hiller Companies Cost Accountant in Amesbury, Massachusetts
The Hiller Companies, Inc. a national leader in the fire protection and security industry, has an immediate opening for a qualified Cost Accountant in the North Shore / Amesbury, MA area.
The Cost Accountant is responsible for managing the accounts of various construction projects, administering all forecasting, accounting, financial analysis/reporting, project profitability, and leadership beyond the boundaries of a traditional finance role to influence business and operations.
Responsibilities:
Performing accounting duties throughout the project, such as preparing customer invoices, reviewing all job costs (including expense reports, purchase orders and payroll)
Ongoing collaboration with project managers throughout life cycle of each job
Monitor job costs daily and report to project managers and General Manager jobs that are failing to meet budgeted margins
Preparing cost analyses by interpreting projects' financial data and information.
Prepare divisional revenue, cost and profit forecasts on a monthly basis
Oversee inventory transactions, ensure accuracy of physical counts and reconciled to the general ledger
Support preparation of annual and periodic divisional budgets
Conduct Job Cost meetings as required
Manage and reconcile Petty Cash disbursements
Ensure accurate and timely month end financial reports
Influence business and operations and strategically plan for future growth
Keeping abreast with the fire protection, construction and accounting industry.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required in accounting, finance, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
Must have 3+ years’ experience in private or public accounting.
Work experience with ERP systems, ideally JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
Knowledge and experience with percentage of completion job cost accounting and other construction cost accounting principles
Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
