SWCA Environmental Consultants Ecological Restoration Technician/Invasive Plant Management Technician in Amherst, Massachusetts
About the opportunity
SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking for assistance with Spring 2021 work in our Ecological Restoration Group. This immediate need is for temporary work through June 2021 with the opportunity for permanent status thereafter. The position may require occasional travel in order to complete restoration projects throughout the Northeast. Should the opportunity for permanent status be available, invasive plant management (herbicide application) will be a requirement of the position (requiring licenses in at least MA and CT).
What you will accomplish
Work in a team setting to complete restoration plantings, bank/soil stabilization, trail construction, wetland enhancement, vegetation monitoring and data collection.
Effectively communicate with other project team members and follow instructions well
Implement and complete tasks and responsibilities delegated by Field Supervisors
Take positive action and accountability for assigned work
Perform herbicide application for invasive plant management as-needed
Experience and qualifications for success
Holds a Bachelor's degree.
1-3 years direct work experience in a landscaping/construction capacity (desired).
Experience at working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
Ability to effectively execute tasks is crucial
Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
Previous herbicide application experience (desired)
MA Certified Pesticide Applicators license (desired)
Ability to perform herbicide application
Previous stormwater experience (desired)
Previous erosion control experience is (desired)
OSHA 10 and/or 40 hour certification (desired)
Flexible during times of change
Strong interpersonal skills
Must hold a valid driver's license
