About the Marketing Department and the Isenberg School of Management (ISOM)

The Marketing Department is currently the second largest major within the Isenberg School of Management with over 700 majors. The department offers a broad range of classes preparing students for careers in sales, retailing, advertising, market research, digital marketing, analytics, non-profit marketing, and sustainability/ organic industry, and incorporates a wide range of experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum. The faculty is comprised of award-winning teachers (e.g., ADVANCE Faculty Mentoring Award, Isenberg Digital Technology Award) and scholars (e.g., DMEF Robert B. Clarke Outstanding Educator Award, AMA/MSI/H. Paul Root Journal of Marketing Best Paper Award) with publications in a range of areas, such as public policy, privacy, electronic marketing, services, consumer behavior, and business-to-business.

The Isenberg School of Management offers a wide range of nationally-ranked undergraduate, masters, and PhD degree programs, such as undergraduate business (#22 among publics, #53 overall, Poets & Quants), full-time MBA (#27 among publics, #53 overall, US News & World Report), and online MBA (#2 in US, #5 globally, Financial Times).

Job Summary

The Department of Marketing in the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst (https://www.isenberg.umass.edu/programs/depts/marketing)is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure track lecturer. The lecturer will be expected to teach our introductory undergraduate Fundamentals of Marketing class (200-500 students) as well as additional electives. In addition to teaching, the position requires service to the department as noted in the requirements below. The appointment is expected to begin September 1, 2024.

Requirements

  • MBA or Masters in Marketing or a related field, (expected to be) earned by August 31, 2024.

  • Ideal candidates will have (1) meaningful industry experience in marketing; (2) teaching experience or evidence of expertise in teaching, especially for introductory marketing; (3) evidence of engagement with the business community and industry; (4) interest in, and ability to, develop programs to strengthen alumni and industry relationships and/or the student experience; and (5) the potential to make positive contributions to the Marketing Department, Isenberg School, and University communities.
