Technical Writer Interns can expect to learn skills to develop hardware and software technical documentation for end-user operation, assembly, and maintenance of the Patriot Missile System. The individual will work with other technical writers, interpreting logistic information and engineering data to collect and document systems architecture, and develop applicable support technical manuals while gaining hands-on experience with Raytheon systems and tools.
What You Will Do
Exposure to developing simplified theory of operation and block diagrams for electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment
Exposure to developing operator, software, fault isolation and troubleshooting procedures for electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment
Exposure to writing removal and installation procedures
Working with technical illustrator personnel in support of publication effort
Working with desktop publishing personnel in support of publication effort
Qualifications You Must Have
Must be pursuing a BS or MS engineering degree in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, industrial, aerospace or other closely related engineering field
This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their (Junior, Senior or Post Grad year) by the start of summer 2025
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer
3.0 cumulative GPA desired
Experience/education with technical writing
Experience/education with interpretation of technical documentation
Experience with project execution
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
