Covenant Health ASSISTANT CONTROLLER in Andover, Massachusetts

Summary

The Assistant Controller will support the preparation of financial statements that adhere to regulatory and accounting guidelines. Working under the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in identifying and rectifying discrepancies while helping to establish effective control systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.

  • Ensure accounting and financial processes meet established standards, promoting accurate financial reporting and effective control.

  • Support most aspects of the accounting management process including month-end and year-end close, journal entry preparation and review, balance sheet reconciliation, audit, and 990 preparations.

  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.

  • Assist in the preparation of operating budgets/forecasts and capital budgets.

  • Help in the development of reports for management or regulatory bodies.

  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.

  • Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records.

  • Maintains all required competencies and completes annual compliance courses on time.

  • Other duties as consistent with this role.

    Job Requirements

    Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)

  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (e.g., SAP)

  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. BS/BA in accounting, finance, or a relevant field is preferred.

  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is preferred.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
