Job Description: Research Chemist (3 Month Position)

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD chemist to join our team at the GridStar Flow development facility in Andover, MA . As part of this exciting opportunity, you will collaborate closely with chemists and engineers to advance the field of long-duration grid energy storage . Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

• Chemical Synthesis : Independently conducting chemical reactions, both organic and inorganic, at various scales (from grams to kilograms). Your work will focus on developing scalable synthetic routes for next-generation electrolytes.

• Analytical Expertise : Collecting and interpreting analytical data to optimize chemical processes. Techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, UV-vis, and cyclic voltammetry will guide your efforts.

• Lab Management : Supporting general lab upkeep and ensuring a well-organized work environment.

• Communication : Compiling results and effectively communicating findings to colleagues and management through summary reports and technology transfer packages.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Chemistry is essential.

• Synthetic Chemistry: Expertise in organic and organometallic chemical synthesis.

• Data-Driven Optimization: Experience using analytical data to guide process improvements.

• Effective Communication: Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, UV-vis, and cyclic voltammetry.

• Experience with kinetic monitoring experiments.

• Exposure to pilot-scale equipment.
