Manufacturing Design Engineers Provide technical manufacturing support to a program from the early development phases through transition to production. They participate in manufacturing and test requirements development, design for manufacturing activities, manufacturing process development and factory capabilities analysis to ensure factory readiness and improve product producibility. They leverage technical knowledge of manufacturing capabilities, product technologies, factory requirements and business processes to establish and execute the manufacturing plan and influence technical program decisions to support the overall program value stream.

This position will act as the primary manufacturing design engineering point of contact in Andover, MA for a Tucson, AZ located effectors program. This position requires close cooperation with the Operations team and other engineering disciplines.

What You Will Do

  • Acting as the manufacturing and producibility authority within the program

  • Applying manufacturing engineering skillsets across the extended value stream to resolve constraints and improve process and product designs

  • Recommending process and procedural changes to ensure that objectives in the areas of cost, efficiency, and quality are met

  • Designing, controlling, and improving the producibility of products through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team

  • Translate engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing process documentation

  • Drive process improvements using data analysis, application of best practices, and by implementing innovative solutions to improve process capability and decrease cost.

  • Perform process development on new product introductions in support of accelerated time to market.

  • Identifying and resolving constraints across the program

  • Participating in corrective action investigation

  • Providing technical input and peer review to engineering designs and design changes

  • Developing Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool, and fixture designs

  • Providing technical guidance and problem solving to factory engineers

  • Leading and coordinating projects, efforts and improvements across the extended value streams using CORE principles

  • This will be an onsite role in our Andover, MA facility

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience within a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with CNC machine tool capability, fixture design, and/or programming.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.

  • Experience identifying, reducing and eliminating cost, quality and schedule constraints through technical engagements. Experience with MRP systems

  • Experience interpreting standard and geometric dimensions and tolerances. Experience with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE), 5 Axis CNC programming experience, system design and integration experience. Previous experience with paint, plating, and structural assembly.

  • GD&T certification.

  • Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Assessments

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
