Position Summary The incumbent for this position will be assigned to the District 4 Traffic Operations Section. He/she will function as an Electrician I and will report to the Electrician II to assist in the daily maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of the District’s traffic signals, flashers, rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs), pedestrian hybrid beacons (PHBs) and related adaptive and coordinated traffic signal systems. Duties and Responsibilities * Maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting various electrical systems in District 4. * Respond to emergencies such as: replacing bulbs and controllers, realigning twisted signal heads, and repairing accident knockdowns. * Recording accurate information for signal equipment pertaining to repairs, signal malfunctions and other records and report. * Determining acceptable quality of materials and/or equipment necessary for a job to ensure that completed work projects comply with specifications. * Maintaining an adequate inventory of equipment and materials; troubleshooting electrical and related equipment. * Performing emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance tests and repair on various types of traffic signal systems. * Determining types and quantity of materials and equipment necessary to perform assigned task. * Maintaining records and reports by accurately recording information as to work progress, repairs performed, date, time arrived, condition upon arrival, and time completed. * Performing day-to-day maintenance and emergency response duties. * Performing other related duties as required. Electricians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage; climb and work from ladders and scaffolds; may drive for job related travel; and may work varied hours. This position requires the ability to respond to emergencies, 24/7, as needed. Minimum Entrance Requirements First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
