Stop & Shop Distribution Center Specialist Fleet Safety in Assonet, Massachusetts

The Fleet Safety Specialist is required to design and execute safety training programs to educate drivers, maintenance mechanics and management on vehicle operation and regulatory compliance. Essential Functions: - Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local government regulations as they pertain to fleet operations - Responsible for D.O.T. compliance including drug testing and Hours of Service - Ensure OSHA compliance for all transportation associates - Provide safety orientation and follow-up training as required to all drivers and maintenance mechanics - Conduct investigations of all vehicle accidents involving transportation associates and/or equipment - Ensure compliance with federal, state and company drug/alcohol testing requirements - Manage an effective Fleet Safety Review Board - Manage an effective Fleet Safety Awards program that promotes safety and encourages pride and professionalism - Responsible for accident investigation - Provide management training in accident investigation - Establish and maintain effective working relationship with regulatory and civic groups regarding regulations and driver/carrier enforcement - Provide performance reporting to the appropriate Stakeholders - Serve as a member of the Transportation Leadership Team addressing Supply Chain process and management issues. Provide oversite for the Yard management. Maintain oversite and interaction with 3PL related to the Salvage operation. Candidate qualifications: - Bachelor?s Degree, preferably in business or safety-related discipline \| or equivalent experience - Five or more years of progressively responsible related experience - Class A CDL license and tractor trailer driving experience preferred - Intermediate Microsoft Suite - Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations as they relate to Transportation safety - Knowledge of theories, principles and practices of vehicular accident investigation and ability to apply such knowledge - Knowledge of DOT revaluations regarding accident classification and reporting - Skill in conflict resolution and negotiation - Highly skilled in effective, clear and persuasive oral and written communications - Exceptional passion to lead; motivate and secure safety performance of the drivers and management - Past driving experience with CDL preferred - Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to transportation.
