The primary objective of the SAFEPLAN Advocate (Floater) is to assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking seeking help from the judicial system, primarily within the Worcester area New Hope courthouses, including E. Brookfield, Dudley, Uxbridge, Westborough, and Milford District Courts. The advocate provides safety planning, legal information, and referrals to survivors, helping them navigate the process of obtaining protective orders. Key duties include conducting crisis assessments, assisting with protective order applications, and providing legal options. The advocate is also responsible for safety planning for survivors and their children, accompanying survivors in court, and making referrals to domestic violence services and other social service programs. The role involves maintaining professional boundaries, collaborating with court personnel, and ensuring confidentiality. The advocate also conducts follow-up calls, educates clients on their rights, and stays informed about legal changes impacting survivors. Additionally, the position requires attending regular supervision, regional meetings, and other related tasks as needed, with occasional travel to cover Worcester County and SE courts.
