The Edinburg Center Controller in Bedford, Massachusetts

CONTROLLER

$90-$110K Annually

The Edinburg Center is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting functions for a $37 million agency and supervise a staff of four. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for accounting, financial reporting and billing activities for the organization. This position also works with the CFO for budgeting and planning, financial analysis and certain Treasury functions.

What you do:

  • Accounting Operations Oversight:

  • Manage billing, accounts receivable (A/R), and cash receipts.

  • Perform month-end journal entries and bank reconciliations.

  • Representative Payee Management:

  • Supervise financial matters for approximately 150 clients.

  • Accounts Payable (A/P) Functions:

  • Oversee A/P functions for the organization and individuals.

  • Financial Compliance and Reporting:

  • Coordinate state contracting processes.

  • Maintain fixed asset inventories and depreciation schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage government reporting and tax filings.

  • Process Improvement and Documentation:

  • Research technical accounting issues.

  • Document business processes and accounting policies.

  • Audit Coordination:

  • Prepare schedules and documentation for audits.

What you bring:

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller

  • Strong accounting skills and supervisory experience

  • Experience with establishing and implementing automation tools

  • Proficiency in using a variety of software programs, including expertise in accounting software (knowledge of Acumatica accounting software is a plus) and proficient with Excel

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required), CPA or CMA preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

  • Experience with creating financial statements

  • Familiarity with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

  • Nonprofit and/or health care experience preferred

  • Familiarity with Massachusetts’ UFR requirements and EIM billing system (a plus)

  • Familiarity with Social Security Representative Payee regulations (a plus)
