The MITRE Corporation has a new opportunity for an innovative data scientist with social integrity experience. You will be challenged to creatively apply data science (e.g., data analysis and data visualization) to a variety of projects in support of the Artificial intelligence and Autonomy Innovation Center. The ideal candidate will bring additional skills or expertise to this position, including experience in issues surrounding data analysis: ethics, privacy, bias, interoperability, and social determinant experience.
Create data packages, in the form of databases, reports, and visualization
Communicate ongoing data science activities, technical findings, and data products for both technical and non-technical customers
Extract relevant features from large data stores containing open source, PIA, and CAI, containing bad records, partial records, errors, or other forms of "noising."
Extract features from open source information stored in a wide range of possible formats, including JSON, XML, raw text logs, industry-specific encodings, and graph link data;
Apply natural language processing, computer vision, signal processing, and speaker and speech recognition algorithms to identify objects in text, image, video, and audio files;
Apply descriptive and inferential statistics to describe data and make predictions about the data, including statistical tests to determine confidence for a hypothesis, common summary statistics (e.g. mean, variance, and counts), fit distributions to datasets and use those distributions to predict event likelihoods;
Execute data science method using parallel computing frameworks (e.g. deeplearning4j, Torch, Tensor Flow, Caffe, Neon, NVIDIA CUDA Deep Neural Network library (cuDNN), and OpenCV)) and distributed data processing frameworks (e.g. Hadoop (including HDFS, Hbase, Hive, Impala, Sqoop), Spark (including MLib, GraphX, SQL and Dataframes)
Execute data science method using common programming/scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, R (statistics). • Utilize statistical techniques to analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of data
Create, validate, and implement data models to solve problems/answer questions
Automate and optimize data extraction, cleaning, processing and analysis functions
Master’s degree in science, computer science, engineering, and/or a health-related field, with 5-10+ years of relevant work experience. A Bachelor’s degree coupled with substantial experience may be acceptable 15+ years of experience.
Hands on technical expertise in statistical computing and data analytic programming and/or scripting in Python and Python libraries required; R, SQL, data visualization tools (Tableau, Jupyter, etc.) a plus.
Solid understanding of the government and private industry organizations; knowledge of the data systems and formats used in federal systems a plus.
A strong track record of successfully delivering on deadlines.
Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Ability to work out of MITRE’s Bedford MA, Baltimore MD or McLean VA campuses is preferred. Professionals who can successfully collaborate via teleworking will be most welcome to apply.
Current and active Secret clearance.
Ability to obtain an TS/SCI with poly.
