Department Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Workday Payroll Specialist to join our dedicated HRIS team at the MITRE Corporation. In this position, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining, enhancing, and optimizing our payroll processes. Responsibilities include managing requests, assessing solutions, system configuration, reporting, and liaison with external vendors. Job Description:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, Finance, and Integrations team to gather requirements and translate them into systems configurations.

  • Configure and maintain business processes configurations to support internal payroll processing in compliance with MITRE policies as well as federal and state regulations.

  • Develop and support EIBs for inbound and outbound data exchanges with external systems.

  • Design test plans and act as a testing partner with Compensation, Benefits, Relocation and other groups.

  • Responsible for new creation of new organizations, tasks related to reorganization, and all tasks related to the ongoing maintenance of the organizational structure within Workday.

  • Provide training and support to payroll administrators on utilizing Workday effectively.

  • Conduct regular audits and validations to ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll data and compliance with legal requirements.

  • Regularly review Workday roadmap and bi-annual releases to evaluate their potential impact and plan for relevant updates.

  • Create new audit reports, maintain and evolve existing library of custom reports, and build additional dashboards as needed.

  • Document processes and system configurations.

  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • At least four years of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) application support and development experience, including system configuration.

  • Detailed knowledge of one or more HR business functions including, but not limited to Payroll.

  • Demonstrated success working with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate their business requirements into technology solutions.

  • Proven ability to gather and critically evaluate requirements from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and propose solutions to complex issues.

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Workday Pro Payroll certification.

  • JIRA or equivalent issue management experience.

  • Experience with other HR technology platforms.

  • Ability to be flexible; prioritize workload, proactively react to issues, and consistently react to shifting deadlines.

  • Proficiency in full MS Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
