MITRE’s Network Engineering department is currently seeking a Lead Infrastructure Security Engineer for our Security Team that can help lead transformation of our perimeter and internal security infrastructure.
Responsibilities include:
Identify technical and operational/process improvements in perimeter and internal security infrastructure
Coordinate with InfoSec teams regarding existing and new solutions operational needs for security, operations, and compliance
Drive enhancements through full life-cycle: concept to implementation/support to modernization
Act as technical subject matter expert, help liason between operational information technology teams and sponsor-facing direct work programs.
Collaborate and provide technical leadership to departmental staff
Contribute directly to technical work program by assuming a technical leadership role on one or more projects
Participate in 24x7 oncall rotation to assist in resolving issues outside normal business hours
Participate in leading and assisting triage efforts for operational events
Minimum Qualifications
BS and 8 years related experience. Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience plus 8 years of experience
Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of Python for network/security automation
Combination of 3-5 years network experience plus 3-5 years maintaining security infrastructure such as firewalls, plus 1 year in a technical leadership role.
Familiarity with Zero Trust concepts
Proactive, independent thinker and problem solver who likes to be challenged and maintain a growth mindset
Experience with design from a system perspective, including relationships, dependencies, and interactions
Effective communications skills, able to communicate from both a technical and business perspective
Experience with full-scope project work: technical and non-technical requirements such as budgeting, training, equipment, support, and labor
Solid understanding of networking and Internet protocols, and implementation of appropriate security controls.
Experience with reading packet captures and triaging network traffic flows
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Industry Security certifications, e.g. Security+, Palo Alto, Zscaler, Cisco
Ansible or other automation technologies/products such as Terraform
Active Secret clearance
