MITRE seeks motivated and innovative undergraduate student studying engineering and/or science who are interested machine learning research applied to signal processing applications towards the development of enhancing our nation’s systems for navigation, timing, wireless communications, and surveillance and reconnaissance sensors.

Developing, applying and evaluating state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms to challenging signal processing problems for RF spectrum operations that includes secure wireless communications systems, navigation systems, or sensor systems. The successful candidate should have a strong interest and some relevant background with machine learning, pattern recognition, and/or statistical signal processing in combination with an exposure to signal processing courses.


Required skills:

  • Applicants are required to understand basic signal processing concepts

  • Applicants should be familiar with multiple machine learning approaches

  • Applicants must be able to write code in Python (preferred), Matlab, or C/C

  • Willingness to learn

  • Studying a degree in engineering, math or science

Preferred Skills:

  • Applicants have completed a project that solves a signal processing problem using machine learning approaches.

  • Preferred majors: electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science
