The Resilient Communications Department (N152) is seeking talented software and networking engineers with an interest in communications to join our diverse team of engineers working on DoD communications challenges for both the US military and its international partners across all domains (underwater, surface/ground, air, and space).

The Resilient Communications Department focuses on creating and fielding adaptive communications and networking infrastructures to successfully execute different missions in contested environments. DoD communications needs pose unique challenges to operate globally in dynamic or denied environments including the effects of electronic warfare.

The department’s work areas include RF communications, networking, modeling and simulation, system integrations, systems engineering, and software programming.

Job Responsibilities:

This position involves working as an individual contributor in a collaborative team environment to analyze advanced networking concepts and address networking challenges to support a variety of projects and sponsor needs.

Work includes:

  • Leverage and build upon existing network modeling and test capabilities to analyze DoD wireless networks

  • Developing/using wireless network models and network control services for a variety of protocols and devices

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or similar field with less that 1 year of related experience

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance

  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across multiple organizations and engineering disciplines

  • You are eager to learn new skills and technologies

  • Experience with software development methods and object-oriented programming, including experience in a modern programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, JavaScript)

  • Understanding of networks and fundamental layer 3 and 4 protocols (e.g., IP, TCP, UDP, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with network performance testing and one or more network modeling and simulation tools (EXata, EMANE, CORE, QualNet, NS3, OMNet++, etc.)

  • Understanding of network protocols such as Network Address Translation (NAT), Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), and IP Routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)

  • Exposure to network programmability concepts such as software defined networking (SDN)
