Department Summary:

Come join MITRE’s Strengthen Coalition Capabilities (N124) department, where we work on cutting edge technologies with U.S. and partner nation stakeholders. We maintain a diverse operational and technical workforce that can respond to regional security needs by developing concepts, requirements, prototypes, and models to independently inform and/or assess development and optimization of command and control, intelligence, fires, and integrated deterrence capabilities. We are seeking engineers to accelerate advancement of semi-robotic systems, decision support capabilities, and tactical communications along with aspiring regional security subject matter experts who are ready to lead and strengthen their business and technical skills. Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Identify and apply Digital Engineering (DE) practices, methods, and tools to address our sponsor and partners most pressing challenges.

  • Apply knowledge and principles of acquisitions, architecture design, system integration, risk assessment/management, and other systems engineering disciplines to support recommendations to address customer challenges.

  • Collaborate within MITRE and relevant partners to foster adoption of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering (DE).

  • Conduct in-depth research for the current and future needs of our customers

  • Reach across the company to innovation and inform our sponsors and stakeholders.

  • Develop technical papers and presentations to inform decision makers.

  • Lead small cross functional teams to execute systems engineering activities and/or technical analysis

  • Assist in developing work proposals that align with sponsor and stakeholder needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience associated with systems engineering, software engineering, network engineering, data science, or modeling and simulation.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical analysis into a coherent story for decision makers and clearly present findings or actionable recommendations.

  • Experience working independently.

  • Demonstrated contributions as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Experience integrating divergent team member approaches or interpretations to advance task performance. Experience interpreting stakeholder needs into an actionable approach.

  • Awareness of international customers, culture and norms.

  • Ability to acquire a Secret clearance or an active Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience working on an international related work program

  • Experience working in the Department of Defense, national intelligence community, and/or multi-national security efforts.

  • Knowledge of United States National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy, and unified command Theater Campaign Plans. Experience and familiarity in one or more mission areas:

  • Command and Control

  • Integrated Air and Missile Defense

  • Intelligence operations.

  • Electromagnetic spectrum operations.

  • Joint fires and targeting.

  • Tactical communications.

  • Cybersecurity

  • Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems(cUAS)

  • Experience and familiarity with U.S. government and Department of Defense (DoD) practices, tools, and projects related to:

  • Requirements development

  • Mission Engineering approaches to requirements analysis

  • Security Cooperation and Security Assistance Programs (e.g. Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) or others)

  • Leadership

  • Task or project leader experience

  • Communicate

  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit and deliver technical reports and briefings for operational sponsors.

  • Collaboration

  • Experience working with senior government leaders.

  • Awareness and familiarity of ITAR and export control regulations and navigating foreign disclosure process

Ability to acquire a Top Secret/SCI clearance or an active Top Secret/SCI clearance
