Department Summary:

The Airborne Battle Management and Command and Control (ABMC2) department is seeking talented modeling and simulation systems engineers to join our energetic and diverse team of engineers and global flight operations domain analysts. The ABMC2 team assists our U.S. and foreign partners on major upgrades to enhance effectiveness of their airborne platforms in a contested environment to gain and retain air superiority and enables airspace access for Air Force platforms. This is an opportunity for highly motivated individuals to provide innovative M&S support to BMC2, Global Flight Operations, and the Air Force’s Agile Combat Employment. Through applying your expertise across domains and in a breadth of skill areas, you will support our sponsors in mission requirements analysis, technology tradeoffs, and experimentation.

Job responsibilities:

  • Use existing modeling and simulation tools to assess the impact that varying the sensor and communications systems on an airborne C2 platform has on mission performance

  • Extend modeling and simulation tools to estimate performance in new environments and analyze new system capabilities

  • Working with a distributed team using modern software tools (e.g. git) to develop and analyze C2 concepts and operational scenarios

  • Collaborate internally, with sponsors, and other organizations to communicate results, recommendations, risks, and opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

  • Basic familiarity with Modeling & Simulation approaches and implementation

  • Experience with one or more programming languages

  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, communication, and briefing skills to interact with team members and sponsors

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Data Analytics / Data Science, including one or more of the following languages and/or data visualization tools: MATLAB, Python, C++, R, Jupyter Notebook, JavaScript, SQL

  • Knowledge and application of modeling and simulation and analysis software tools such as AFSIM

  • Familiarity with communication systems, radar systems, and digital signal processing techniques

  • Knowledge of software development best practices and version control software such as Git.

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field
