Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer ? Process Planning Classification: Exempt Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager Summary/Objective The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing necessary support to Production in the manufacture and inspection of high precision products. This individual will work with employees from all departments to ensure the highest possible quality, maximize schedule attainment, and improve product flow. Essential Functions * Reviews product designs for manufacturability including tolerances, quality requirements, cost and other issues affecting manufacturability. * Defines the manufacturing process required to produce components and assemblies. * Determines fixture and gage requirements for new components and designs or procures necessary items. * Creates manufacturing process routes and bills of material in ERP system. * Reviews Engineering Change Orders and updates process documentation as necessary. * Collaborates with other manufacturing engineers, design engineers, quality control personnel, supervisors and machine operators to maximize shop-floor productivity and product quality. * Participates in root-cause analysis and corrective action of quality discrepancies. Competencies * CAD / CAM experience and familiarity with drawing / design / dimensioning standards. * ERP / MRP software experience * Experience with CNC machining, knowledge of work holding and machining principles * Working knowledge of general machine shop and measuring practices * Good general computer skills including Microsoft Office applications * Ability to work creatively and responsibly with minimal supervision * Good verbal and written communication skills Supervisory Responsibility None . Work Environment This job operates in both the office and manufacturing environments. This role routinely uses shop floor tools and machinery. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. * Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely * Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work * Frequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and arms * Physical ability to do work requiring prolonged standing, frequent stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending or twisting and lifting * Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time salaried position which operates during normal business hours Monday through Friday. JOB POSTING Travel Less than 5% Required Education and Experience * BS Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent * CAD / CAM experience and familiarity with drawing / design / dimensioning standards. * MRP or ERP experience * 5+ years of practical experience in Manufacturing Engineering support of CNC machining operations * Working knowledge of general machine shop and measuring practices.
