Job Description

Job Summary:

This position will provide best in class technical pre-sales support for the Teledyne FLIR Surveillance Business Development/Sales team and customer base. The Applications Engineering team is comprised of technical professionals and engineers that support customers, the business development team, sales operations, and engineering with technical support for orders, proposals, demonstrations, and ad hoc customer inquiries across Land, Maritime, & Airborne verticals.

Hybrid: This role is based at the Teledyne FLIR Billerica facility. Some hybrid work option may be available depending upon project/program needs (1-2 days remote from home weekly.)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote and onsite technical/product support to key customers, developers and integrators during program development and installation of equipment.

  • Evaluate customer mission requirements and have the ability to develop system architectures to support requirements (i.e. protocol translation, video and signal routing, data recording, interfacing with legacy devices etc…)

  • Provide support during platform integration solution definition and assist in quotation of custom-engineered solutions.

  • Support technical system and cable configuration definitions on quotations and accepted orders.

  • Support proposals including review of Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Information (RFI), including review and inputs to product compliance matrices, provide inputs to technical volumes, and coordinate with product engineering and external vendors for proposal support as required.

  • Support demonstration activities.

  • Support and plan resources for trade shows as requested by the Mgr of Applications Engineering and trade show leads.

  • Support prototype/first article installations, setup, and configuration as required to ensure program success.

  • Manage demo asset status to ensure equipment is operational, well maintained, and verified condition/location. Manage inventory audits as required.

  • Support product engineering staff for production qualification testing.

  • Maintain close communication with staff from Sales Operations, Business Development, and the Proposal team.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.); or minimum 2-3years relevant job experience in technical or field service role is required.

  • US Department of Defense Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain one highly preferred.

  • Experience with Maritime, Border Systems, Vehicle, or Man Portable systems/applications is preferred

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to author and review technical documents for proposals, white papers, and technical briefings.

  • Ability to logistically problem solve/trouble shoot complex surveillance system integrations.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, briefing skills, professional demeanor, and proven track record of establishing and maintaining customer relationships.

  • Must be able to work assignments where independent action and moderate degree of initiative are required to resolve problems and recommend actions

  • Must be able to efficiently plan and execute project timelines with attention to detail.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skill set.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Ability to travel 50% + both domestically and internationally
