Job Description

Day to Day:

Insight Global is assisting a client in the Life Sciences industry in identifying an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server, database performance tuning, and the ability to develop and implement solutions for a growing, highly transactional, and regulated database environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the administration, maintenance, and performance tuning of SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal functionality and minimizing latency.

Collaborate with development teams to provide database expertise and assist in the development of database-driven applications.

Utilize built-in SQL tools and performance analyzers to monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.

Develop and recommend solutions for scaling databases to handle increased transaction volumes and ensure high availability.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, procedures, and changes to facilitate knowledge sharing and operational continuity.

Provide recommendations for maintaining and operating the database in the short term while developing long-term strategies for growth and optimization.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years' experience as a SQL Database Administrator with MSSQL, and Windows

Experience with LabVantage (a specific laboratory information management system)

Strong documentation skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely

Proficient experience with scripting and automation

Extensive experience with virtual machines

Experience with MSSQL on Azure Virtual Machines and Azure SQL Server Manager Instances null
