Job Description

Job Summary:

Teledyne Technologies is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). This role involves developing and maintaining scalable infrastructure using DevOps and Infrastructure as Code approaches, and requires proficiency in tools like SaltStack, Hashicorp, Docker, and Kubernetes. Applicants should have a strong background in Computer Science or related fields, and experience in Linux/Unix Administration and cloud platforms.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain scalable, efficient infrastructure utilizing DevOps methodologies and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approaches.

  • Utilize SaltStack for configuration management and automation.

  • Apply Hashicorp tools for infrastructure management and service networking.

  • Oversee containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate reliability practices.

  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of systems and services.

  • Respond to and provide high-level support for business impacting infrastructure outages.

  • Implement and manage system monitoring solutions.

  • Generate root cause analyses (RCA's) and maintain operations documentation.

Job Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering or similar role.

  • Experience with automation & configuration management frameworks (Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, Puppet).

  • Proficiency in a scripting language (Python, Bash).

  • Familiar with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiar with major public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or large on-premises VMware deployments.

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix system administration.

  • Experience with the Monitoring and Alerting (Prometheus), Database Management and Security Best Practices.

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, effective communicator, adaptive and collaborative.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field a plus.
