Night Shift Brewing Supervisor/Manager on Duty (Seasonal) - Owl’s Nest in Boston area, Massachusetts

Summary of Position:

The Owl's Supervisor is someone who thrives on challenge and continually looks for opportunities to learn. They are as comfortable taking responsibility as they are delegating it. Supervisors understand that customer satisfaction always takes priority but efficient Taproom operations make it possible. They are friendly, positive, and enthusiastic.

This is a seasonal position which is scheduled to end in October. We?re always looking to add permanent staff to our team, and this is a great way to gain exposure for future positions!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating an exceptional experience for Owl's Nest guests.

  • Effectively lead the Owl's Nest team to execute business goals

  • Responsible for monitoring training and development of new employees on shift

  • Assist with labor management costs

  • Manage operations with passion, integrity, and knowledge while promoting the culture and values of Night Shift Brewing

  • Lead each shift by delegating duties, assigning tasks, and following up with all team members to ensure duties are completed.

  • Must be proficient in each area of the Owl's Nest to assist when necessary

  • Consistently review operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement

  • Provide coaching and feedback to staff and assess performance on an ongoing basis

  • Follow inventory control procedures to reduce product loss

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the Owl's Nest

  • Manage time effectively and meet all job responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive work environment for employees and guests

  • Create a positive guest experience by delivering a high level of service and ensuring all staff engage guests to understand their needs and exceed expectations

  • Consistently monitor product and labor costs to remain within goals

  • Solicit guest feedback to understand the needs and wants of customers

  • Train and coach staff on guest services principles and practices

  • Follow Night Shift Brewing?s policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety/security

  • Conduct staff and daily pre-shift meetings

  • Assist in any areas of the Owl's Nest when staffing constraints require

  • Other duties as necessary for successful and efficient operations

    Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • TIPS and/or Serv-Safe Certified (can be trained after hire)

  • CPR & First Aid Certified

  • Crowd Manager Certified (can be trained after hire)

  • Brewery experience a plus

  • Minimum 1 years management experience

  • Minimum 2 years hospitality experience

    Knowledge:

  • Understanding of beer production & packaging. Familiarity with basic styles of malt beverages and applicable raw materials required for production.

  • History of Night Shift Brewing

  • Knowledge of providing customer and personal service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting company standards for service, and ensuring customer satisfaction

  • Ability to use POS system

    Skills:

  • Perform sales transactions in POS system for beer and merchandise sales

  • Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software

  • Multitasking

  • Flexibility to adjust to sudden changes

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

  • Ability to convey information effectively

  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work

    Physical Requirements:

    The work for this position is partly performed in an taproom environment, and requires occasional trips to the warehouse and production floor, which involves multiple flights of stairs. This position will also be mostly based outside and exposed to the elements.

  • The production aspects of this job take place in a working brewery environment, which involves the following:

  • Hot, cold, steamy, foggy, wet conditions

  • Noise (up to 90 dB)

  • Exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, hot water, cold water, hazardous gases, and pressurized vessels

  • Exposure to machinery with moving parts

  • Wet floors

  • Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing

  • Seeing, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling

  • Lifting up to 55 pounds and moving up to 170 pounds
