The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

The Center for Observational and Real-world Evidence (CORE) is recruiting for one co-op student for 6 months starting in 2024. The co-op student will collaborate with and support a diverse set of scientists in the CORE Real-world Data Analytics and Innovation (RDAI) team to develop advanced, strategic real-world evidence capabilities and support data science imperatives (i.e. disease identification, treatment pattern analyses, etc.). You will bring in skills and classroom knowledge of computer programming, quantitative analysis, and data science and apply them in projects or studies under the supervision of experienced data science experts in the team.

Under routine supervision, the Co-op will fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Apply epidemiological, health outcomes, or statistical learning methods to evidence generation projects.

  • Develop an understanding of Real-World Data (RWD) and their use cases in pharmacoepidemiologic and health outcomes research.

  • Provide hands-on programming and quantitative analysis support cross to specific therapeutically area projects or studies.

  • Build machine learning/biostatistical/statistical models for prediction or classification of disease(s) or treatment outcomes.

  • Effectively communicate novel findings and methodological approaches to internal and external stakeholders

Required Education and Experience:

  • Candidate is currently enrolled in a graduate (or undergraduate) degree program.

  • Candidate is majoring in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, or a related computational field.

  • Candidate has successfully completed 1-2 years of the following courses with – biostatistics, statistics, or machine learning.

  • Candidate is available to work full-time for 4 to 6 months starting in the 2024.

  • Candidate resides within the Boston area.

Other Requirements:

  • If offered position, candidate is expected in Boston office 2-3 days per week.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Candidate has solid programming skills in R, SAS, SQL and/or Python and familiar with common machine learning and data mining packages/libraries.

  • Candidate is familiar with platform programming environment.

  • Candidate is familiar with real-world or health/medical/epidemiological databases.

  • Candidate is familiar with epidemiology and public health.

  • Candidate is familiar with data visualization.

  • Candidate has co-authored scientific presentation or peer-reviewed publication that utilized statistical learning methods.

  • Candidate has strong attention to detail, with a quality-focused mindset and are diligent about programming and testing.

  • Candidate is enthusiastic about working in a matrix team of colleagues of different backgrounds

  • Candidate is effective oral and written communication skills that enable personal impact with senior-level decision makers

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$39,600.00-$105,500.00

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
