Job Description
The Translational Immunological Biomarker Team at Takeda is dedicated to advancing the development and optimization of therapeutic assets by providing essential experimental evidence. Our key functions include:
Identifying and evaluating immunological biomarkers crucial for understanding target engagement, mechanisms of efficacy, and resistance
Enhancing the translatability of preclinical models to ensure they better predict clinical outcomes.
Increasing reverse translation through the use of biospecimens and advanced analytics, facilitating the refinement of therapeutic strategies based on patient data.
This comprehensive approach supports our goal of optimizing asset development and informing preclinical translational strategy, ensuring we bring effective and innovative therapies to patients.
Job Description:
As a summer intern, the candidate will work on-site within the DMPK&M Translation Immunological Biomarkers Group (TIBM), supporting the enhancement and automation of the Quantitative Flow Cytometry (qFlow) platform for diverse preclinical modalities.
The project will center on quantifying tumor-associated antigens and stress ligands in both diseased and normal tissue. This effort is crucial to provide data on expression levels and distribution, which is necessary to predict optimal dosing regimens, reduce off-target effects, and improve the therapeutic index of immunotherapies.
The candidate will have the chance to contribute significantly by assisting in defining various methodologies, including but not limited to immunophenotyping, co-culture functional assays, and cytokine assessments to characterize next-generation modalities.
Internship Development Opportunities:
The candidate will utilize various techniques such as FACS, ELISpot, and LBA, working under the guidance of lab scientists to analyze, interpret, and present data in interdepartmental meetings. As a high-visibility department that collaborates intricately with many other departments, this role will provide the talented candidate with valuable knowledge of drug discovery processes.
Job Requirements:
This position will be Fully Onsite and require 4+days in the Cambridge office per week.
Must be a Graduate or PhD student in Immunology, Cellular biology, or in a related discipline with at least one year of university studies before internship
Lab based experience with cell culture, FACS, ELISA, ELISpot is strongly preferred
Previous lab work/course work in Immunology or Oncology is required
Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel)
Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gathering
Highly reliable and a strong team player
Flexible with an attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Internship Eligibility
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later
The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 29th) or (June 16th - August 22nd)
The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:
$21.00 - $46.00
The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
