MASSDEP is the state agency responsible for protecting human health and the environment by ensuring clean air and water, the safe management and disposal of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources.

The selected intern will serve as a member of the Diversity Office and will obtain experience in administration and program coordination to provide an appropriate and broadly defined diversity-related information that supports, fosters and maintains a diverse and inclusive environment for all staff at DEP.
_Knowledge and Skills Requested_
• Assist with thecoordination of MassDEP’s Intern Program
Attend virtual career fairs and eventsto recruit diverse candidates for employment and internship opportunities at DEP.
Assist with reviewing and evaluating resumes for MassDEP job opportunities
• Provide research and statistical data to quantify diversity related project outcomes
- Correspond with staff, volunteers, and committee members via email to provide information on events announcements, meetings, etc.
• Provide administrative support

_Knowledge and Skills Requested_
Microsoft Suite – PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
Educational Interest in diversity and civil rights
Written and oral communication skills; commitment to promoting a diverse inclusive environment and working effectively in a diverse environment.
Because MassDEP is presently working remotely, candidates will work remotely, until staff return to the office. Candidates will need a computer with Windows 10 and office suite and will be expected to work on their own computers. Candidates will also need to have internet access as a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection may be provided.

Applicants are required to:
Be enrolled in a degree program in the Spring 2021; or
Has received their degree within one year of their date of graduation

This is an intern contracted position for 22.5 hours per week
$20.00 an hour/undergrad degree
$25.00 an hour/graduate degree
Employees must have the ability to commute to MassDEP Massachusetts locations.
