The Microsoft Federal organization was established to address the unique mission, legal/regulatory requirements, and procurement rules and processes of the United States Government (USG). The Microsoft Research and Science Team has an immediate opening for a Strategic Account Executive to focus on managing Microsoft’s relationship with the Department of Energy. The (DOE) Strategic Account Executive will be responsible for influencing and capturing both short-term and long-term revenue from DOE initiatives.
The Strategic Account Executive should have credibility as a trusted advisor and will be comfortable working with Executive and CxO level customers. The candidate should have a good understanding of the Microsoft platform and strategy, including matters relating to Cyber Security and Cloud technologies.
Build, manage, and close a multi- million-dollar pipeline of sales opportunities to meet or exceed annual revenue targets with a high degree of forecasting accuracy.
Ensure successful implementation, value capture, and customer satisfaction with Microsoft solutions by working in concert with Microsoft Premier technical support, Microsoft Consulting Services and Microsoft partners.
Coordinate and collaborate with the DOE account teams to share strategies and ensure a consistent solution message across all DOE.
8+ years of building strategic business partnerships through selling or consulting with Public Sector customers.
8+ years of experience driving digital transformation from within the Public Sector.
Bachelor’s degree or MBA preferred, or equivalent experience.
Experience to lead multi-cultural, diverse, and remote teams across different disciplines.
Proven ability to understand customer needs, create and deliver customized, customer-focused pitches and solutions.
Effectively navigate through ambiguity and complexities related to client management.
Embody "we-before-me" mindset.
8+ years of technology and/or sales experience preferably working with the DOE; strong expertise with enterprise solutions, both mission and business; exceptional leadership, negotiation, organizational, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. The position will require 25-50% domestic travel. This position will report to the Director, Research and Science Team.
Top Secret Clearance / SCI Clearance
The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
Cloud Screening: Candidates must be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $133,000 and $195,000. At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
