Validity Accountant in Boston, Massachusetts

About the Role

Validity is hiring an ambitious, recent/upcoming 2024 Finance or Accounting graduate to join our high performing team as an Accountant I to learn and grow within our accounting department. Reporting to the Supervisor - General Accounting, the Accountant I will explore responsibilities and roles across Finance and Accounting by rotating through cross-functional teams getting experience intended to accelerate early career development.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Finance or Accounting with a history of academic success, prior internship/co-op experience as well as an interest in learning about the SaaS industry.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries monthly during the accounting close process.

  • Review certain balance sheet reconciliations that are impacted by the journal entries being processed.

  • Work with Supervisor and Sr. Manager of Accounting Operations to help understand fluctuations in assigned Balance Sheet accounts.

  • Assist in creating various Accounts Payable items including vendor records and payments in NetSuite; ensure W-9, W-8 forms, and vendor bank accounts have been collected, validated and saved in NetSuite.

  • Gather internal and external data to resolve all invoices and payment requests and ensure they follow company policies and procedures across all Validity subsidiaries.

  • Respond to AP inquiries and resolve matters with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Assist in administration of Navan to processes expense reporting.

  • Participate in the 1099 reporting process at year-end.

  • Partner with other members of the Finance team to complete financial audits and any additional compliance engagements.

  • Additional duties as required.

    Required Experience, Skills, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business

  • Basic knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Prior exposure to NetSuite or similar ERP system; high level of proficiency in Excel; experience with Microsoft Office 365.

  • Prior experience working in a corporate environment via summer job or internship. 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong internal and external relationships.

  • Basic knowledge of accounting processes and internal controls.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately document work performed.

  • Highly organized, detail and process-oriented; develops and executes project plans within designated timelines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated ability to work in teams.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a high growth, fast- paced environment.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently and make judgment-based decisions with a good sense for when escalation and additional communication may be necessary.

  • Self-starter - willing to think outside of the box and recommend process improvements.
