Medtronic Analog Electrical Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts
(Principal level) Responsible for developing electrical systems for X-ray-based, image guided surgical systems. Participate in the design, development and testing with an emphasis on high-power analog circuits (> 1kW). Proficient in using both schematic and layout tools for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and SPICE tools for simulation. Coordinate system-level design with high voltages, high power, cable mgmt. and electronic packaging. Utilize analog and digital electronics skills to design and test products. Understand electronic design reliability and methodology. Responsible for high voltage and high-power circuitry design. Design and simulate in power electronics, analog circuit and mix-signal circuit using Electrical Computer Aided Design (ECAD) tools including Altium or Cadence. Design circuits following standards of Institute for Printed Circuits (IPC 2221A), and test and troubleshoot electrical systems following electrical safety standards (IEC-60601-1) or International Special Committee on Radio Interference standards (CISPR 25 or CISPR 15). Leverage Lean-Sigma or Six-Sigma for Design for Reliability and Manufacturability, and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA). Utilize MATLAB/Simulink for test data analysis. Write script or program in LabVIEW, Python or C or other programming languages to interface test equipment and automate test. Understand design and test lead-acid/NiCad and Lithium-ion batteries. Design experience in using Controller Area Network (CAN) bus for electromechanical system communication or Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART) bus for the communications between power drivers. *Multiple positions available. Position works a hybrid model and will be onsite in Boxborough, MA location – 3 days per week.
Masters’ Degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field and two (2) years’ experience as an electrical engineer or related occupation in analog circuit and power electronics OR Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field and five (5) years’ experience as an electrical engineer or related occupation in analog circuit and power electronics. Must possess at least two (2) years’ experience with each of the following: High voltage and high-power circuitry design; Design and simulation in power electronics, analog circuit, and mix-signal circuit in ECAD tools including Altium or Cadence; IEC-60601-1 or CISPR 25 or CISPR 15; IPC-2221A; Lean-Sigma or Six-Sigma for Design for Reliability and Manufacturability, and FMEA; LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink, and programing language such as C or Python; Lead-acid/NiCad and Lithium-ion batteries; Design-in of a CAN bus for Electromechanical System communication, or UART bus for the communications between power drivers.
