TEKsystems Application Support Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts
Role: Application Support Specialist
Length: 12-Month Contract
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Workplace: Hybrid (1-Day Per Week On-Site)
Seeking an Applications Support Analyst. The candidate will be responsible for learning the applications supported, level 2 & 3 user support, minor programming tasks, extensive pre-release testing, and other support tasks for enterprise-wide applications. These include but are not limited to applications that track vehicle maintenance, known as Maintenance Control and Reporting System (MCRS2); facilities and Maintenance of Way, known as Trapeze EAM; and the application that supports warehouse and stockroom activities, called Inventory Data Collection System (IDCS).
Duties and Responsibilities
Learn off-the-shelf applications largely via self-study, both from the users’ perspectives and the IT perspective
Learn the business process, how it is reflected in the application use, and the supporting database table structure
Write and test reports utilizing Crystal Reports, SQL language, Tableau or other query tools
Work with users to resolve tiers 2 and 3 application or technical problems
Work with users to define business requirements; prepare detailed specifications for functionality requested
Design/implement proof of concept
Implement processes within the application
Produce succinct production documentation or job aide as required
Perform application testing on enhancements, upgrades, or modification projects
Train users on application functions, features and operations
Minimum Experience and Required Skills
Four (4) years of experience in information systems programming and analysis including design, development, and implementation
Three (3) years of experience working with relational databases (Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server)
Three (3) years hands-on experience writing SQL queries with multiple tables
One (1) year experience working directly with the end users
Effective organizational and analytical skills
Programming experience
