The Technician Apprentice will partner with their assigned mentor technician to learn and develop their skills as a hands-on technician. As an Apprentice you will participate typically in a two-year (depending on state requirements) program, focused on internal and external training and development in preparation for a technician career with STANLEY Security. The Apprentice will be responsible for completing all required coursework, participation in state mandated apprentice program as required, and completing work assigned my manager and mentor.
Duties and Responsibilities
Attend and complete training programs and Stanley coursework as required.
Partner with mentor technician to learn and complete assigned projects, and daily ride-along’s for on-the-job training.
Demonstrate an ability to learn to effectively install CCTV/cameras and access control and intrusion systems
Including running electrical wiring in attics, crawl spaces, and other confined spaces, which can include drilling, trenching and aerial runs.
Adhere to and support Stanley Security policies and procedures including all safety requirements (e.g. PPE usage, etc.).
Assist and interface with the Branch Project Manager regarding on-site scheduling of work activities and timely delivery of equipment.
Present a professional appearance and promote an maintain good customer relations to enhance the customer experience.
Correctly respond to all customer inquiries, consulting the Lead Install Technician or Field Ops Manager when needed (Never say “I don’t know” to a customer).
Maintain excellent attendance.
Accurately clock all time worked daily.
Take and record all required meal periods and breaks (state specific).
Pursue additional licensing/apprenticeship program participation as required by state.
High School Diploma or GED
Valid state driver’s license, without restrictions.
- Technical degree or coursework in electrical, security, or computer systems.
Flexibility - Ability to be flexible and manage competing deadlines and stressful situations.
Mechanical Mindset - Must be mechanically inclined with great hand-eye coordination; tech savvy; should enjoy working with your hands, taking things apart and putting them back together just to see how they work.
Learning on the Fly - Relentless and versatile learner, learns quickly; enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks; quickly grasps the essence and the underlying structure of anything.
Interpersonal Skills - Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with mentor, co-workers and customers.
Resourcefulness - Ability to reference provided training and resources and ask questions of the Mentor, Project Manager and Field Ops Manager to understand and apply the best solution.
Organization - Must be well organized for effective time management.
Communication - Must tailor explanations of technical concepts for nontechnical or technical audiences; Must speak English at the required level to safely and competently perform all job duties.
Technicians that work at Stanley Electronic Security are required to work in various conditions.
May be requested to work overtime and weekends. This is a Field position so travel to various sites within the local area is a requirement of the position.
While performing the duties of this job, the Apprentice may be exposed to: Electrical outlets, electrical wiring, high, low or tight spaces, outdoor elements such as hot or cold weather, construction sites or other potentially hazardous customer sites, stressful situations such as tight, competing or changing deadlines and / or difficult customer interactions.
Technicians must be able to climb ladders that extend up to 24 feet in height, carry items up to 75 pounds, and hold a valid state driver’s license without restrictions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to crawl into tight spaces, climb, walk, sit, stand, reach, bend, stoop, talk, see (including the ability to differentiate between colors), hear, type, and drive.
